The main objects to be pursued by the Company on its incorporation are:
To undertake production of certified seeds of all those crops and varieties coming under the purview of the Seeds Act and also quality seeds of other kinds and varieties not covered by the Seeds Act, 1966 and/ or any other Act.
To implement the State Seeds Project, if necessary, forming part of National Seeds Programme in accordance with the agreement between the International Development Agency/International Bank of Reconstruction & Development, Govt. of India, National Seeds Corporation Ltd., West Bengal Govt. and the company or between any two or more of them.
To carry on business as seed merchant, to buy, sell, grow, prepare for market, import, export and deal in seeds of all kinds and varieties.
To undertake processing, drying, storing, distribution and transportation of certified seeds on commercial bins.
To undertake State or Centrally sponsored Seed Multiplication and Distribution programme on agreed terms.
To purchase, own, acquire, take on lease/ rent, install, manage and operate land, seed farms, farm machinery, seed storages, seed cleaning, seed processing and transportation equipments/ facilities deemed necessary for seed business.
To make arrangement for the supply of foundation seed to individuals, co-operatives and other agencies which will act as contract growers through National Seed Corporation Ltd. And other agencies.
To undertake distribution of seeds to farmers at reasonable price and in sufficient quantities to support agricultural production programme of the State Govt. or Government of India or other State Govt.
To store and stockpile reserve supplies of any seeds needed for the improvement of agriculture in India.
To undertake and promote research in agriculture in general and seed production, processing, preserving and storage techniques in particular, in collaboration with ICAR, Agril. Universities and NSC Ltd. And other allied institutions.
To procure, purchase, manufacture, fabricate, sell, trade, to carry on the business of selling, distributing fertilizer, chemical fertilizer, organic and bio-fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, agricultural plant and machinery, agricultural implements, equipment & machinery, tractors, power tillers, seed drills, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and all other input chemicals and machinery for the development of agriculture and agricultural production.
To enter into contract with the individuals, co-operatives and other agencies in the growing, processing, drying, storing, distributing, transporting, buying and selling of certified seeds and other quality seeds.
